Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Desire Connect. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Desire Connect website, applications, and related services (the “Platform”). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
1. Platform Overview
Desire Connect is a request-driven marketplace. Users (“Buyers”) can post requests for items they need. Other users (“Sellers” or “Recommenders”) can respond with: • a sales offer to supply the item; or • a recommendation of where the item can be obtained. Desire Connect facilitates discovery, communication, and (where available) payment and escrow tooling between users. Unless expressly stated otherwise, Desire Connect is not the buyer or seller of items listed or requested on the Platform and does not take ownership of goods exchanged between users.
2. Eligibility
To use Desire Connect, you must be at least 18 years old and have legal capacity to enter into binding agreements. By registering, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you meet these requirements. If you use the Platform on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorized to bind that business to these Terms.
3. Accounts, Verification, and Security
You may create an account using your name, email, phone number, and password, or through supported social authentication (such as Google). We may require verification of your email and/or phone number using a one-time password (OTP). You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You may update your profile information (including name, contact details, password, and profile photo). You agree not to impersonate another person or create accounts for abusive or fraudulent purposes.
4. Requests, Offers, and Recommendations
Buyers may post requests that include item details, description, category, optional budget, preferred location, and optional reference photos. Posted requests may appear in marketplace feeds for other users to browse, search, and filter. Sellers/Recommenders may submit: • Sales offers (price, condition, availability/location); or • Recommendations (store/seller location and optional estimated price). All listings, offers, and recommendations must be truthful and made in good faith. You must not post misleading, illegal, or fraudulent content. Buyers may view offers on their requests, accept an offer, or close a request (including when an item is obtained outside a formal acceptance on the Platform). Desire Connect may remove or restrict content that violates these Terms or applicable law.
5. Payments, Wallet, and Escrow
Where payment features are enabled, transactions between users may be processed through Platform payment methods, wallet balances, and/or escrow flows. Funds held in escrow are typically released when the relevant parties confirm completion according to Platform rules (for example, delivery confirmation and buyer release). You are responsible for: • verifying item quality, condition, authenticity, and legality before confirming completion; • complying with applicable tax and payment obligations; and • not attempting to bypass Platform payment or escrow processes for covered transactions. Desire Connect is a facilitator. Except as required by law or expressly stated in writing, Desire Connect is not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, fitness, or delivery of items or services arranged between users, nor for offline arrangements made outside Platform payment tooling.
6. In-Platform Communication
When a request receives an offer, the Platform may create a private chat channel between the requester and the offer submitter so they can discuss details such as price, meeting point, and item specifics. You agree to communicate respectfully. Harassment, threats, spam, scams, discriminatory language, and abusive conduct are prohibited. We may review communications where reasonably necessary for safety, fraud prevention, dispute handling, legal compliance, or enforcement of these Terms.
7. Ratings and Reviews
After a request is fulfilled or an offer is accepted (as applicable), parties may rate and review each other. Ratings and reviews may appear on public profiles to help build trust. Reviews must be honest and based on real experience. Fake reviews, review manipulation, and retaliatory or abusive reviews are prohibited. We may remove or limit visibility of reviews that violate these Terms.
8. Reporting, Trust, and Moderation
You may report suspicious activity, inappropriate content, or fraudulent requests/offers to our admin/moderation team. We review reports and may take action including warnings, content removal, account suspension, or permanent bans. Retaliation against users who report in good faith is prohibited. Admin tools may be used to manage users, moderate requests and offers, and oversee Platform integrity.
9. Your Content
You retain ownership of content you submit (such as request text, photos, offers, messages, and reviews). You grant Desire Connect a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as needed to operate, improve, promote, and secure the Platform. You represent that you have the rights to submit the content and that it does not infringe third-party rights or violate law.
10. Prohibited Use
You must not use Desire Connect for illegal or unauthorized purposes. Prohibited activities include, without limitation: • posting or selling counterfeit, stolen, restricted, or illegal items; • fraud, scams, or money laundering; • impersonation or false identity; • harassment or abusive behavior; • circumventing payment, escrow, verification, or security controls; • scraping, harvesting, or unauthorized data collection; • introducing malware or attempting to disrupt Platform security or availability; • using the Platform to spam or manipulate rankings, reviews, or feeds.
11. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate access where we reasonably believe an account violates these Terms, applicable law, or poses risk to users or the Platform. You may stop using the Platform and request account deactivation subject to any outstanding obligations (including pending payments, escrow, or disputes). Pending transactions at termination will be handled according to Platform payment/escrow and dispute processes where applicable.
12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Desire Connect disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, and does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Desire Connect is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for losses arising from user-to-user transactions, item quality/safety, or communications between users. Desire Connect’s aggregate liability for claims relating to the Platform will not exceed the fees you paid to Desire Connect (if any) in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or the minimum amount required by applicable law.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cameroon, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts located in Douala, Cameroon shall have jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform and/or email where appropriate. Continued use after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Platform.
